Dr. Panosky will notify the nursing supervisors of potential applicants and forward resumes and reference letters.Final selection of students rests with the CMHC Nursing Supervisors and HSAs.
Goals for this summer placement are:
- To offer an opportunity to enhance correctional nursing experience through a summer position while providing staffing to CMHC;
- To provide clinical care to patient inmates, and support to nursing staff, under guidance with preceptor and staff supervision;
- To complete a clinical project identified in collaboration with facility nursing and staff; and
- To benefit to CMHC nursing staff to assist in activities such as medication administration, conducting sick call, infirmary care, etc., and be considered part of nursing staffing.
This effort between UCONN School of Nursing and CMHC is an example of our collaboration and partnership to support correctional nursing practice.
